Why Daddy???

Why Daddy? This is the most common phrase I get from Ethan nowadays. Seems like every kid and parents need to go through this phase where everything that you say or instruct, the ‘why…’ question is the standard answer. (We are teaching the kids ‘first time obedience’ & 'Yes daddy'… still WIP)

Recently, while watching a National Geography program with Ethan on Dubai building ‘The world’ documentary, here’s the conversation trail...
Daddy, why are they throwing sand on the sea?
Because they want to stop the wave from coming in…
Why the wave coming in?
Because the wind is strong…
Why the wind is strong?
… I was lost (coz' I didn’t pay attention during science class, that’s why!!!) with answer and tried distracting him with other stuff

I finally got myself busy past 2 weeks and put up some pictures and decorations on our boring walls. This trigger another ‘WHY’ session...
Daddy, why you put up that cross on the wall?
Because we want to remember Jesus was on that cross…
Why was He on the cross? Why daddy?
Because we are naughty and God wants to cane us but Jesus decided to be cane for us instead by staying on that cross…

I was expecting a ‘Why God wants to cane us…’ but instead, he quiet down for a moment and said, ‘Oohh…’ I wonder if Ethan really grasp the meaning of it but I sure hope more ‘why’ will come from the kids on these subject.

For this Christmas, maybe he will ask
Daddy, why do we have Christmas?
Because we want to remember that Jesus was born on this day…
Why was He born?
Because God love us so much that this is His Gift for all of us...
Why God want to give us Gift?
Because we don’t know God for a long time, and God wants to use this Gift to know us again...
Why we don’t know God for a long time?

Can you help answer that last question?

Merry Christmas

Hello there! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Loved your ElfYourself video - hilarious!

I remember that I used to ask a lot of "why" questions when I was little. Today, I'm grateful that my dad has had the patience to answer them! :)
