My morning routine is, Ethan wakes me up (yup, you read it right, my son wakes me up!!!) and I will brush his teeth, change his cloths and gives him cereal for breakfast. Than I will sort myself out for work before joining him. This morning, he was playing with his cars more than eating and it was getting late. I was running out of patient and I turn to him and gave him a stern warning (looking like an angry Shrek) asking him to quickly finish up because it was getting late.
He turned and look at me with this wide open watery eyes and a little pout. My heart melts... I wanted to smile but I have to keep my expression to make my point across. This is not the first time he did that to me. Many times, I will have to turn away and smile before composing myself to continue with the disciplining. For Kellie and I, the biggest challenge to parenting is being consistent. Many times we feel we should just give in to the kids demands or tantrum because it will be easier, but trust me, being consistent with the boundaries that we have set paid great dividends.
Thank God that He's a fair, just and consistent God. If God keeps giving into our demand and little tantrum, than we will become God, not Him. Our kids will end up detecting our life and that will be stressful.
Proverb 22: 6 - Train a child in the way he should go,and when he is old he will not turn from it.
