Based on last year experience, we didn't buy much gifts for gift exchange this year. Apart from a few gifts that we wrapped for some Christmas gatherings/parties, we pretty much had a stress free Christmas again. The malls were packed with a lot of stress people finishing off their last minute shopping and my favorite Christian radio station kept reminding us that Jesus is the reason of the season. Yes, it's true, every year we will have that same reminder belting out at our conscious. However, during the Christmas service, as I was standing there enjoying the different performances and worshiping God, God told me that the reason of the season is really not just about Jesus, but me. Yes, you, me and everyone on this earth... we really are the reason of the season. I don't mean it selfishly about the parties and presents (nothing wrong with it though!), but I think God created Christmas for us. We are the reason that Jesus was born into this world, giving us a bridge to reconnect us back to God. We created Christmas to remember Jesus, God created Christmas because He remembers humanity.Read this great post from Ps. Steve on focusing on the giver not the gift. When my kids are old enough, I will sure to adopt this as our Christmas tradition.
