Pure, Wisdom & Grace

I was startled by a noise in the bathroom at around 3am. I tilted my head to take a glance and saw Kellie walking out of the bathroom with her head wrapped with a towel (She just had a shower and washed her hair). At this hour, it could only mean that her contractions have started. “Dear, are you ok?” I asked. “Nothing, go back to bed” she calmly said. I rolled over but couldn’t really get back to bed. For the next hour or so, I kept hearing heavy breathing from my wife and when the interval was quite close, I asked if she is ready to go hospital. Finally, at around 4.30am, she said, let’s go to the hospital.

Kellie was very calm and didn’t display any sort of pain that you would normally expect. On the other hand, I was getting anxious, quickly got out of bed and grabbed a few stuff before knocking on my mom’s door to let her know that it’s time. When we were in the car, it was Kellie who told me to be calm and said, “Just pray for me, everything is in God’s hand, we will be ok”.

Two weeks ago, Kellie was reading this book, “Supernatural Childbirth” by Jackie Mize given by Cindy. The book encouraged us to raise our faith to believe for a ‘painless delivery”. Kellie finished the book in 2 days (a miracle by itself) and when she told me about it, I was really skeptical (hei, it’s typical human brain working here). However, she told me to share her faith and that God has always intended childbirth to be painless for women. The curse of labor pain was set upon humanity after Eve falls in Eden, but when Jesus died on the cross, all curses were broken. If only we set our faith on Christ, it is really possible to have an enjoyable delivery.

At the hospital reception, I told the midwife about the whole ordeal but they were quite surprise because the 3rd June was the exact expected date. We were told that less than 5% of delivery actually falls on the expected date (another claims by the book that all pregnancy should come to full terms). Secondly, seeing my mega calm wife, they had some doubt if she is really in labor.

By the time Kellie climbed on the bed around 5.30am, the midwife said she’s fully dilated and basically told her to push. I think both of us were pleasantly pleased by the timing (due to Ethan’s experience). Caitlyn Chong Hui En (or Caitlyn, Hui En Chong in Ang-Moh-style), was born on 3rd June, at 6.30am. She came out fairly quickly and smoothly and I had the privilege to cut the umbilical cord. The only pain relief that Kellie used was her faith on God and also the gas. Being confident that God was no respecter of people, the author’s words of faith rang out in Kellie’s heart and mind. “If we are redeemed from the curse of the law, then we are. If we are, we are! Jesus said it is done! On the cross. All that He has done is more than enough. Amen!

Caitlyn, meaning pure and Hui En carries the meaning of Wisdom and Grace. We pray that the grace of God will always be upon Caitlyn, that she will walk the wonderful journey of life in wisdom and pureness.
