Christmas 2006

You may notice that there are no photos accompanying this post. Normally with a title like that, you will expect to see some cheery merry Christmas photos but hmmm... I just didn't bother to take the camera out. Now, that may lead you to think that we have a depressing Christmas (could also be due to my dwindling interest in photography) but actually, it's not too bad.

Gone are the hectic practices of preparing for a ECF Christmas production. We were not involved in any big productions that we are used to coz' the church only had the sunday school kids singing and another group of teenagers putting up a 5 minutes skids. So, in all, it was a pretty relaxing Christmas eve service. We also don't see much gifts exchanging and it actually felt weird or out of place when we brought some gifts for some church members. Apparently, gift is for family members and also to a special few. I can get use to this because we will not be frantic in wrapping up presents or end up with a lot of gifts that might sit in our 'gift box' for recycles :P. Ethan, though, has a few gifts from some of our friends and his toys (or cars more specifically) collections continue to grow.

Initially we wanted to have a quiet Christmas day also, but we decided to invite John Yeow (our house agent) for lunch because his wife went back to Singapore. Once we decided to do lunch, we also invited Albert and the family (our insurance/mortgage broker) and Jasmine and Marlo. We stuff ourself with Rojak (yummy!! by Elsie), lamb leg (juicy!! by me), bacon sausages (smelly!! yucks!!! by me), ham (wow!! by John) and other side dishes of salad and mesh potatoes. Also, chatted for a few hours and we threw in some questions like
1) What is your best Christmas gift?
2) What is the legacy you want to leave behind?
3) What is one thing you will change for 2006?
4) What is one thing you look forward to in 2007?
I enjoyed the answers to those question as it allows us to know each other better, not just superficially but to the heart of the person.

After cleaning up, we headed to Ps. John Simpson's house to lepak. Had a half hour disciplining session with Ethan before we left and boy oh boy, he is really showing his will. Anyway, when we were there, more food (though it's dinner time) and we were also given a coffee lessons coz' Mikiko (brought a coffee machine with her) and Sale serves coffees in a cafe. There also had a duel in who serves up the best coffee. We were complaining as we are the beneficial of some really nice smooth coffee. I finally know the differences between a latte and a flatwhite. Also ended the day there watching Seabiscuit.
