In my previous post, I ended by stating that God is beginning to speak to us a family to start the journey that He intended us to have. He has allowed us time to bond as family and settle down into this country. He has allowed us to understand a little bit of the culture in this nation. Looking back, all these are criticial if we were to be of any good use to God. Without a strong family bond, we will eventually break. Without settling in and understanding this nation, we will be frustrated trying to do it the 'boleh-land' way.
Recently, there's a calling for people to help the younger people in Manukau City (south of Auckland, near where we are staying). There's been a rise in crimes and these young chaps are getting involve in gangster, resulting to quite an alarming number of murders. The city is pleading with local churches to do something, and an independent ministry was birth out of it. EveryNation is involved and it’s for anyone who’s willing to commit to a year of ministering to just one kid. The city is also giving $100/month just so we can take the kid for a day-out and it’s a once a week thingy.
Kellie slipped me a paper noting ‘God is answering your prayer on ministering to people’ during the service. I too felt the calling and with a step of faith, I signed up after the service. Suddenly, I began to feel all the stuffs that Zechariah felt, worry, panic and doubtful. I have some questions in my mind, like, what part of my routine must I give up? Ethan's playtime, outing, sports etc... the list goes on. Last night while praying, Kellie gently reminded me, it's about sharing lifes and doing stuff together... that's what discipleship is about. No point talking about the bible for a few hours if the kid doesn't see how life's is worth and that God has a purpose for us. I remember now, 'changing lifes by changed lifes...'
Exo 4:2 The LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?" ... God, like Moses, use whatever that you have placed in my hand, I will walk the faith...
